My Plymouth: with Rebecca, Trade Marketing Executive

30 June 2022
Vispring found home in Plymouth in 1970 and since then has been proud to be based in this beautiful part of the UK. Our team is at the heart of what we do, many of us have lived in Plymouth, Devon our whole lives. For the next few weeks, we will be sitting down with them to talk about what Plymouth means to them.

FIRSTLY, TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT DO YOU DO AT VISPRING?

I’m Becky and I live in Plymouth with my husband, Paul, and our Cockapoo, Lola. I’m Vispring’s Trade Marketing Executive so I am responsible for the company’s participation in national and international trade shows and exhibitions such as IMM Cologne, Salone De Mobile in Milan and The National Bed Show in Telford. Along with support from my lovely colleagues, I spend the rest of my time working on POS projects such as swatch books, store concept and POS development.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN PLYMOUTH?

I’ve lived in Plymouth almost my whole life. I moved to Portsmouth for university for 3 years, but I moved back home in 2015. I can’t imagine ever moving away again. The older I’ve become, the more I appreciate it here and I think it’s the perfect place to live.

WE ARE VERY PROUD TO BE BASED IN PLYMOUTH, WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT GROWING UP IN BEAUTIFUL DEVON?

The summer holidays. Plymouth is located on the Cornish / Devon border so everything is in easy reach for a perfect summer’s day. Our weekends would be spent on a beach in Devon or Cornwall.

HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR IDEAL WEEKEND IN PLYMOUTH?

I would stop off for some breakfast on the Barbican or The Hoe followed by a walk around the seafront. If I wanted to venture away from the sea then I would take a trip on to Dartmoor. You can either go and find somewhere to relax or go for a hike up some Tor’s and enjoy the views across the moors. I also love a pub lunch, so spending the afternoon there with family or friends would be perfect.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE DOG WALKING SPOT FOR YOU AND LOLA?

Struggling to pick just one… I would say one of my favourites is around the headland of Noss Mayo which looks back towards Plymouth. I got married near here, so it always feels quite nostalgic and the views are incredible. You finish back in the village of Noss Mayo where there’s a couple of pubs for a drink and some food after.

WHAT ACTIVITY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND SOMEONE DOING IF THEY ARE A FIRST-TIME VISITOR OF PLYMOUTH?

I always take people to the Barbican. Lots to do around here. So many bars and restaurants, or activities like boat trips.

ANY SPECIAL PLACE YOU WOULD SEND THEM FOR DINNER?

The Fisherman’s Arms on the Barbican is perfect for good pub food. They allow dogs and offer them their own dog menu! They also sell Lilley’s Mango Cider, produced in Somerset, which everyone should try.

FINALLY, PLYMOUTH IS YOUR HOME, WHAT SIGNIFIES ‘HOME’ TO YOU?

Somewhere where my family and friends are. Most of my closest friends and family all live here so I’m lucky I can spend lots of time with them.
